JVOFI, PACAP Releases Microfinance Technokit

Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. and AUSAID-PACAP made a collaborative partnership last March 26, 2009 by signing the Memorandum of Agreement for the sustainable promotion, dissemination and updating of the AusAID-PACAP Microfinance Techno-kit.

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary in July 2006, the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program conceptualized a series of Technology Kits (Technokits) as a means to share its rich experience and best practices.

According to the Australian Embassy, the Microfinance Technokit is a tool aimed to guide development organizations on how to do microfinance projects in the most effective, efficient and productive manner. The Microfinance Technokit would be a useful resource for NGOs and communities in developing their own proposals and find ways of funding and implementing them. The Technokit includes information on how to make a project proposal, do an appraisal, and even legalities on microfinance.

The partnership of the JVOFI and AUSAID-PACAP will help in the propagation of effective microfinance practices in the Philippines. The sharing of AUSAID- PACAP’s rich experience and knowledge will be invaluable in building and maintaining the standards of good microfinance practice in the country.

The first of these kits, the ‘Microfinance Technokit’ has been released. It captures the experiences and lessons from AUSAID-PACAP’s long experience in community assistance development programs through the provision of microfinance support.

Under the said agreement, AusAID-PACAP committed to provide 5 copies of the Microfinance Technokit to interested repository organizations; provide Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word files of the Microfinance Technokit on CD, so that when applicable, the Microfinance Technokit can be edited and reproduced by partners.

Meanwhile JVOFI committed to promote the use of the Microfinance Technokit to third-parties requesting for guidance or assistance; function as a repository for the Microfinance Technokit; with proper recognition given to AusAID-PACAP, reproduce or update the contents of this technokit, and disseminate with the inclusion of the partner’s logo. Make the Microfinance Technokit available on their websites.

AUSAID-PACAP staff, Stakeholders and Partner Organizations provided inputs and actively participated in the development of this technokit to ensure that it would serve as a useful tool, not only for AUSAID-PACAP but also for the wider community development network.
