The much-awaited 4th JVOFI Golf for a Cause Tournament which teed off on October 25, 2008 at the Baguio Country Club fairways generated a total amount of P616,800.00. It attracted 113 golfers from all over the Philippines.

The Golf for a Cause tournament started as a kick-off to JVOFI’s 25th founding anniversary in 2005. Since then, the Foundation, in partnership with Texas Instruments, has been organizing golf tournaments annually to raise additional funds for its Microfinance program. The program addresses the credit needs of enterprising women of Baguio City and La Trinidad, Benguet.

These women were able to secure small loans to provide them with means to create more products, improve their services, expand their market, and ultimately increase their income and economic activities. They are engaged in buy and sell, sari-sari store, cutflower business, direct selling, leathercraft, handicraft and piggery.

An additional 265 women were assisted with the generated amount from the 3rd Golf for a Cause. At present, the program caters to 2,000 enterprising women.

Euls Austin, last year’s Champion of the Class A Men’s Division proved undefeated. Benito Ang, Ed Chan, Derek Bautista are Champions of the Class B, C and D respectively. Vadz Navarette won in the Senior Division while last year’s 3rd Runner-up in the Ladies’ Division Vicky Hoffart grabbed the Champion trophy this year.
